TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching music for 24 years in the states of Tennessee and Missouri. I have been at my current school for 14 years. I have several after school groups for select students including an Orffestra, a recorder ensemble, an African drumming ensemble and select chorus students. My students have represented my school and county through All-County, Mid-State and All-State choirs and have also played for a rally supporting education during the 2008 Presidential Debates held in Nashville. They also just played at the first annual Day on the Hill for Music Education with Tennessee Music Educators Association. I am a consistent presenter at conferences in general and pre-school music and brain development, as well as after-school activities for after school care takers.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I typically teach in the Orff tradition and Feierabend methods, but intermingle with Kodaly and Dalcroze. Movement is always a large part of my curriculum, as well as ballet and opera studies for appropriate age levels. My early childhood music focuses on the Feierabend method.
