This challenging cross-curricular lesson begins with a review of the engineering design process and key vocabulary. A historical scenario sets the stage for students to identify the problem and work in groups to brainstorm possible solutions. Given the criteria and constraints, students build and test a prototype of a boat that will hold the Lincoln family and all of their belongings.
