This well known nursery rhyme forms the basis of a mini-unit.
I found YouTube video clips in Japanese, and then developed activities to add value to the learning of the song.

In Japan the song, 赤い鳥小鳥 is a well-know children’s song.
With repetitive lyrics, it is easy to remember and an enjoyable way of practising colour adjectives.
In the traditional version, the colours red, white and blue are usual. In this resource I have added PINK, YELLOW, GREEN, PURPLE and ORANGE to further extend student’s knowledge.
Song charts are displayed in both Japanese (hiragana and romaji) and English for each colour.

Five Silly Monkeys: Japanese song and craftivities!
This lively song is well-known in English and I found an animated Japanese version on YouTube. A link is provided in the resources.
It is a counting song with monkeys jumping on a bed and then falling off one by one. The verses are repetitive so are readily learned by even young students.
Song charts for each verse are included and could be displayed using a data projector/IWB or printed to make a song book. I have made 2 versions
