Introduction to Dilations WebQuest (8.G.3)
This WebQuest has students watch two videos to learn the basics of dilations. These basics include the fact that a dilation enlarges or shrinks a figure proportionally from the center of dilation based on a scale factor. Students also learn about preimage and image and that a scale factor larger than 1 enlarges a shape, while a scale factor less than 1 makes a shape smaller. Rotation Practice and Webquest
Students will complete a web-quest and create a table to record the prime coordinates of several rotations. They will observe a pattern for the changing -x and -y coordinates and the respective signs. After completing the web-quest students can practice their newly learned skills on two different shapes by completing the practice handout.
