Snowman Counting Sets
This is a template for a snowman and his hat to be used for a variety of purposes. I wrote numbers to 20 on the hats (for my Kindergarteners) and glued them on the snowmen, then laminated them. The students then had to count out that many buttons and place them on the snowman to practice counting out sets.
It's easy to differentiate this by writing a subtraction or addition sentence on the hat instead, and having children show the answer in buttons..or any other way you can think of to challeng

Build a Snowman - Mid Year Conference
Students self-assess by using the key to color the different category/sections of a snowman. Then, students turn on the back to write one "glow" that they are really good at and one "grow" the area they would like to improve on.
After completing, I conference with students to congratulate successes, set goals, and make a plan to finish the year strong.
