Carnival of the Animals Listening Worksheet
A favorite for all general music teachers, Saint-Saen's "Carnival of the Animals" is now Common Core friendly with the listening worksheet. When I teach this unit, I do one worksheet per animal and put together into a little book at the end of the unit.

This was a quick assessment I created to check understanding of tempo while listening to songs. The first graders learned "presto" and "largo" vocabulary terms while kindergarten discussed fast and slow tempos. The pictures make it easy for real life connections when teaching tempo. Prior to the assessment, we retold the story of the Tortoise and the Hare (I love integrating literacy as much as possible!!).
