Race Strategy Response Sheets
These response sheets are helpful when teaching the RACE academic writing response strategy with students. The framework makes it easy for students to see the different parts of their answer and be sure that they get full credit for every part of their answer. I used these to for TRC practice and to structure guided reading writing responses.

Introduction for Expository Writing
Use this concrete framework to teach students how to write a introductory paragraph for expository writing. This outline breaks the task down into easy-to-understand tasks. Students fill in the framework with their HOOK, BRIDGE, THESIS, and ROADMAP. Student-friendly visuals and reminders are included. On the back, students color-code their sentences and re-write them into a cohesive paragraph. The color-coding is essential to set off their visual memory!
