Soil Sample Observation Sheet FREEBIE!
I created this form for my students to use as we study rocks and soil. I have each student bring in a soil sample from home after we have studied the different types of soil. They then explore the sample and fill out this sheet to record what they find. It is always a fun time and the kids love being told to play in the dirt and get messy! Meteorologist for a Day!
Students will love becoming weather forecasters for the day! This is a simple activity that can be done after they’ve learned about the symbols and concepts on a weather map.
Step 1: Pass out a small map to each student.
Step 2: Allow them to write out a forecast for the map, using terminology and language of a meteorologist.
Step 3: Film each student forecasting the weather with their map pulled up behind them on the SmartBoard or other projection device.

The Water Cycle Bracelet Project
If you are teaching your students about the water cycle, this is a project for you! It will not only be so much fun, but will teach those crucial yet difficult vocabulary words in a hands-on way!
All you need is your choice of string and the beads (same colors as first page). Students fill in their chart with what each color means as they string the bead. It is a concrete way to remember an abstract concept.

Spring Plant Observations
Each year my students plant grass or sunflower seeds and I plant three pots of my own to use for student observations.
Throughout the unit, students observe these potted plants and see how they are growing. Use the included sheets to track growth, show changes, and compare/contrast how they look.
