ASHLEY LAWRENCE

I have been teaching high school French and Math for 21 years. I teach French 1, 3, and AP, and am currently teaching Algebra 2 (though I have taught pre-Algebra and Algebra 1). During that time I have taught from the remedial level up through the honors level.

For French, I like to focus on high frequency vocabulary, although I will throw some grammar in to some lessons, also. I have transitioned from more grammar-heavy textbook based teaching to the Comprehensible Input methodology, so my store includes materials to go with both philosophies. For math, I strive to have notes, examples, reviews, and assessments that are clear, go step-by-step, and allow students to fully grasp the concepts. Students often say they appreciate the way I explain the material in a way that they can understand it.

I was chosen as one of 40 teachers nationwide to represent the US on an all-expense paid educational trip to Japan. I was twice selected as the school representative to attend the "Excellence in Teaching" conference at the University of Notre Dame. I was voted the school wide Teacher of the Year.
