I have been in the classroom for over a decade, focused mostly at the middle school level. Throughout my career, I have taught grades 6, 7, and 8 mathematics, and love the growing maturity and independence at these grades. It's a great time to build their math confidence before the rigor of high school and beyond sets in.
I am a self-admitted math nerd, with equal passions for sports, movies, and all things Christmas. I believe that math is for the world, and that it holds no significance unless we know how and when to use it. I love answering the "when will I ever use this?" question, showing students the many applications of the skills in their text books, and creating engaging and relevant resources that make students excited to explore what they know about math.
