TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Since 2013, Building Beats has developed and expanded DJ, Digital Music Production and Podcasting programs, instilling entrepreneurship, leadership, and life skills in NYC low-income and minority youth. Beginning as a small cohort of programs located in communities in the Bronx and Manhattan, Building Beats has since implemented over 6,000 hours of in-school and after-school workshops in DJing, Music Production and Podcasting throughout the greater NYC area. Since 2020, we’ve expanded to serve L.A. as well. We’ve taught in over 150 locations to more than 8,000 youth in after-school, unhoused youth programs, juvenile justice and restorative justice centers schools and community centers.

MY TEACHING STYLE

With a strong belief in activating students’ passion for creative technology as a pathway to build entrepreneurial skills, we provide students with the structure, tools, and knowledge necessary to become self-directed, creative producers who harness their creative potential to benefit their community. Our lesson plans and activities use digital technology as a tool for creativity and have been very successful in engaging our students over the past 10 years so we want to share them with you all!
