TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Accomplished administrator, trainer, financial manager, education specialist, and executive director with diverse experiences in exceptional education, art education, private residential, and curriculum development. Proven creative talent with demonstrated written skills, solutions-oriented leadership, and a collaborative spirit. Promoting equity, meeting the needs of individuals as they reach for goals while continually researching and promoting best practices. I have taught and worked as an administrator in exceptional education, art education, private residential, and early education/child care services for ages Pre-K through 12th grade in both a collaborative and self-contained setting. I am highly qualified in all core contents at the elementary school level and in middle school math. Additionally, I served as the middle school PBIS Coach and FBA/BIP mentor and Education Director for residential school for children learning with trauma and mental illness. I currently work as the Director of Early Education in the private, non-profit sector.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe both art and exceptional education classrooms are highly correlated with many levels of commonality that each serve the overshadowed and underprivileged. These two disciplines, supported with trauma informed strategies, and tiered systems of support help students reach their potential and begin to understand their own creative voices. My classroom thrives on the ardent belief that exceptionalities should be celebrated, differences applauded, and individuals recognized as they are taught to become compassionate citizens with a tolerance for others. Education, and each classroom is a welcoming community that engages all of its diversity in the service of intellectual and social development.
