Thirty-five years as a classroom teacher in public, private, and parochial schools. Seventeen of these years were spent in the Chapter I reading program which served grades 1 through 6.
Use research, educational training and years of teaching experience to develop a friendly, non-threatening learning environment. Use a variety of reading, vocabulary, and math inventories to determine appropriate levels of instruction for each student. Also use interest inventories and learning styles inventories to learn more about new students. Use these to plan and implement appropriate learning activities. Use whole class, small group, student pairings, and individual instruction. View the teacher-student relationship as a school FAMILY. My philosophy: Every child valued every day! Also, make them smile at every opportunity!
