I have nearly 20 years of experience in the classroom teaching beginner Spanish - AP Spanish. I have taught in 3 different schools, ranging from a small rural school to a school of over 1,000 students. In addition to Spanish, I also teach a College & Career Readiness course designed to help students with resumes, scholarship essays, interviews, applications & growth mindset. In the past decade years, my students have earned nearly $3,000,000. I also teach a Video Creation course. We work with storyboards, scripting, the history of media and produce a monthly broadcast.

Student engagement is critical! My teaching style focuses on finding a balance between grammar & stories/input! I love TPRS (total physical response storytelling), CI (comprehensive input), project based learning, and lots of hands on activities! I believe in quality over quantity and want my students to be fluent in Spanish by the time they graduate. I support blended learning and flipped instruction. Currently, there is a lot of diversity in my school, and I have several native speaking students. I have to differentiate to reach all levels! Our school is 1:1 with iPads.

I threw out the textbook! I create the majority of my coursework from scratch and love to incorporate projects and technology into my classroom! I love using Breakout EDU in my classes to teach culture. I have served as secretary on our school's Technology Committee since 2001. I am a Senior Class Sponsor, National Honor Society Sponsor, Foreign Language Club Sponsor, Quiz Bowl Coach, Newsletter Editor, and Volunteer translator for our local HeadStart Preschool.
