Elementary/Early Childhood/Special Education teacher and Reading Specialist is assisting in building the bridge between home and school by creating activities that enhance student learning and allow parents to actively participate in their child's education through parent-friendly language.
Teaching styles depend on student learning styles, so I consider myself, somewhat, a chameleon. As my students reveal their true learning styles, I adjust my methods to best fit their needs. I truly believe in targeting student needs through multiple modes: visual, auditory, tactile, movement, and much more.
In 2008, I was awarded my school district's award "Learning for All" which is presented to district faculty/staff that strive to ensure that EVERY student reaches his/her full potential. Additionally, I've been recognized by the Washington State PTA for excellence in the classroom.
I earned my B.S. in Early Childhood and Special Education in 2004. Four years later, I completed my graduate studies in Reading and Literacy and earned a M.Ed. I am dually certified in ECE and SpEd as well as hold a Reading Specialist certification.
When I'm not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, catching up on needed rest, attempting DIY projects, and creating authentic activities for families to use at home with their children.
