I started teaching in January 2006, straight out of grad school, when I took over a 3rd grade classroom for the second half of the year. After spending two more years in 3rd grade, I moved up to 5th grade, which I taught for the next fourteen years. I now teach 6th grade math. I have taught all subjects, but math and science are my passions.
Hands-on learning and problem-solving using critical thinking in real world scenarios.
A favorite shining teacher moment was when I received an email from a high school sophomore thanking me for teaching him to love science in 5th grade with my hands-on lessons that he still refers to in his current science classes!
BSc. (chemistry); Master of Arts in Teaching (elementary education)
