I am a second career teacher with classroom experience from struggling underfunded schools to fancy private schools. My blue collar background has helped me create positive relationships with students and parents alike.
I challenge students with high-order thinking questions and really get them thinking about the concepts in literature analysis and historical thinking. My students create their own charts and graphs, conduct research, shoot and edit videos, give presentations, challenge each other in debates, laugh, stay engaged, and learn.
Nothing officially recognized by any committee, but the students at a struggling urban school elected me "King Teacher" two years in a row during Spirit Week. I have received "Highly Effective" in my last four formal observations, and I was awarded tenure early.
