I received my Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology and completed my Fellowship in Child Language Research. I had a thriving Speech-Language Pathology practice for several years and focused on early intervention through third grade. Then I decided to adopt my daughter's, both with special needs. I now home school them and constantly look for ways to support them in academics, social and life skills along with speech and language. Due to my daughter's strong visual strengths, we focus on sight words in reading. I love making products that help with these skills.
I am very "child-led" in my therapy. I believe that every child can learn, but we have to adapt to find out the way that they learn best. In my quest for academic materials for my eldest daughter with severe speech, language and cognitive delays, I found myself frustrated. Many things were very "cluttered" with excess words, pictures or material. I wanted to create a line of simple speech, language and academic materials that are appealing, but not overwhelming. I want them to include simple sentences, yet relevant vocabulary. I look forward to adding to this line of projects and creating materials for parents or teacher's to use to teach students who need support.
