I believe that teaching is a life-long learning process where each individual student has something valuable to contribute and a unique perspective to share. I respect each and every one of my students and expect that they will express that same respect to one another. The classroom should be a comfortable place to express and exchange ideas so that we safely challenge each other in our learning. In my classroom, students do not just be sharing their thinking then move on, but they engage in a conversation together. This way, students in my class are thinking, learning, and growing as individuals through the content. I always model this to my students and show them how to respect, expand, and question the ideas and thinking of their classmates. Together, are a community of learners and thinkers that actively engage with the curriculum. I know that my students are capable of amazing things and even the youngest scholars can perform astonishing tasks and demonstrate brilliant thinking.
